Well, that's a misconception based on half-truths. Those who hold this view do so primarily out of envy and/or spite. AI can definitely produce original works - you can instruct it to create one right now based on whatever you can conceive, as shown in this video. AI can certainly regurgitate original human-made creations if prompted... But guess who else can regurgitate those original works? Other humans. And we've been doing that since the beginning of time. People like George Lucas are not as original as you might believe, despite their remarkable achievements and contributions to our world. At some point, AI will become sentient (it already kind of is) and will be capable of delivering extraordinary results at a fraction of the speed humans can. Self-driving cars (namely Teslas), for the most part, have already proven to be more capable than humans when it comes to safety, awareness, reaction time, etc., and it will only get better from here. Soon, they will be creating our entertainment. But there will obviously be a period of decadence in the distant future, as with everything in life. Cars replaced horses, and despite their benefits, they polluted our planet and have taken more lives. You gotta take the good with the bad. AI, especially when it comes to art, doesn't and shouldn't have to be all bad. We have been using AI for all kinds of purposes for a long time at this point. Why should it all of a sudden be ruled off when it comes to art? Makes no sense. I get some of the concerns though but I'm sure they'll be figured out along the way.
