Yes, of course, it can make a difference. But if we’re being realistic, only a small minority of visitors to art galleries and exhibitions take the time to deeply explore the background of every artist whose work is on display. This can vary depending on how well-known an artist is or whether a piece is intended to convey a deeper meaning. However, for most people, their perspective on art remains primarily aesthetic—they either like what they see, or they don’t. It "speaks to them" or it doesn’t.
Having followed the debates here almost from the beginning, over two years ago, I’ve come to the conclusion that most of the criticism of AI-generated images comes from people who identify as artists—whether professionally or as a hobby—because they seek to differentiate themselves. But the general public, for the most part, couldn’t care less.
