​@RightAmount Art is something made with a purpose, with one's own experience - both their life experience, and their experience with the medium. The person who imbues that experience into the piece is the artist. The life experience is the more important part in creating a piece of art, *not* the aesthetic of the piece. Take an image of a blonde woman over a sunset, like the image presented in the skit. A photographer and a model create a piece of art when they agree on a time to shoot - the photographer thinks fondly of the sunsets in their youth, and wants to capture that in the shoot. It is art when the model picks out their clothes, when they have a nice talk on the drive out to the mountain where they take the photo, and when the photographer fiddles with the camera settings to create an evocative scene. Any editing done to the photo in post to make the piece of art look more like it did when the photographer saw the model with their own eyes is also a form of art. A digital artist creates that art when they think of the scene in their head coming home from the grocery store. They decide - hey, this stranger I met today is inspiring me. I like her t-shirt. I'm going to draw something similar onto this character. And, while rendering the sunset, they think about the sunset outside their window growing up - both as a way to guide their hand, and as a fond memory imbued into the piece. That's art. A person using an AI program might think of the scene coming home from the grocery store. They can change the prompt as much as they want to make it try to fit the scene they see in their head, but it will never be exact, because it did not come from their own life experience. They can't perfectly emulate a piece of clothing from a single reference, because the image does not come from their own head. They can think fondly of their childhood sunsets, but the AI cannot, and the AI is the one being guided to make the piece. AI artistry is not artistry. Art is a process based on the lived experience. A person commands a machine. The machine is the one carrying out the process, and it does not think of those sunsets - it does not think at all. The artist is not undergoing a process, and the entity that is carrying out the process is not capable of, simply, giving a fuck.
