980djsk i gotta be careful not to dismiss everything out of hand...
i guess what really grinds my gears is the way ai art is being used to devalue human creativity and exploit artists. its not just about the quality of the art itself, its about the ethics and the economics of the whole thing.
but youre right, ai art can benefit some people. maybe its useful for illustrators who need quick concept art or for small businesses that cant afford to hire a designer, i can see that.
but i still think that the downsides outweigh the benefits. the risk of plagiarism, the lack of originality, the erosion of artistic skills, the displacement of human artists, the atrophy of cognition, its all pretty scary.
and i still think that the ai bros are being disingenuous when they claim that ai art is "democratizing creativity." its not democratizing anything, its just concentrating power in the hands of a few tech companies
