A valid and rational take. That said, it IS possible for regulation to still work here, depending on what the courts decide. It might be here to stay, but the training might not be able to use an author's books and copy their style, at least not do so and be legal for monetary exploitation. I also have faith in the book reading audience to be interested in creator driven work. The sky isn't falling, and we will adapt, but I am legitimately worried about young authors giving up on the tough and rewarding parts of writing which will actually develop their voices. We all assume when new that our ideas make the writing unique when that is wrong, and it is the process. It can take years to learn that though, and so giving it up to AI early might undermine the learning journey for many.
