Ye, I think it’s a bit exaggerated. People are taking it pessimistically because now companies require one to have actual sight and application abilities. With AI coming in, more fields where programming was limited is being accessible such as healtcare, agriculture, culinary fields to find data driven discoveries and what not. In essence people were being punished for being to specialised, and having a narrow field of knowledge thinking they can survive on that. Companies can certainly replace coders but I doubt they can replace programmers
