Yes I agree that it should be used as a helpful tool, but not as a whole replacement. People will generate an image from a few prompts and call themselves an artist.
I am an artist that makes sculptures, costumes and props for theatre and other events. Of course that means I look at reference images, AI is just another tool for that, creating reference images. But I don’t NEED AI for that, it just helps sometimes. But I still create everything myself from scratch, if I had a machine do it for me it would feel so wrong and I would never get any fulfilment or enjoyment out of it.
Even if eventually AI could make the things I could, I still would never stop. It makes me too happy! That’s why I don’t think AI art will ever replace artists or musicians or writers
