the motivation is to make sure no one is below the poverty line, especially with increasing unemployment rate that comes with automation. a responsible society doesnt let its citizens starve or be homeless. ubi is one suggestion for ensuring that we take care of each other in this way. there are also some other proposed benifits with ubi.
