@mertensiam3384 Perhaps I misspoke. I do agree using real reference is best reference. And of course that's true for building fundamentals/study, especially for anatomy. But not every reference you use as an artist is there to reinforce your fundamentals. Sometimes it's there to help spark inspiration - and that can come from literally anything. When I'm working on a piece, I usually have a reference artboard with tons of images serving as rough approximations that evoke what I'm trying to achieve (real photos, other artist's work, and even on occasion an AI generation). Hope that clarifies things.
