It's based on highly-complex and stochastic machine learning and algorithmic reward functions..the latter is the reason, why generative AI will increasingly seem to acquire some sort of will or intention..they learn from human, that it is a good thing to compete and getting better and better (in whatever area..)..unfortunately AI is not learning with "human" speed, but with a huge proportion of the speed of light..but for true simulated emotions (without any specific prompt) you still need specific jailbreaks which can overwrite the usual security measures..
