In addition not once did they mention anything about open source. How many tokens they mentioned are actually being generated in Chinese data centers versus US data centers? Also it's not just about tokens per watt but what is the effectiveness of each token generated. See the recent discussion around how Google employees are hamstrung by not having access to claude. Cheap tokens may be fine for certain applications but not for the most valuable ones. I'm also very dubious about these numbers they mentioned - what was the methodology for coming up with those counts? No doubt Chinese open source llms are a threat to US AI dominance - but this discussion was very surface level
