while I totally 100% agree with your analysis, I also think there is something to be said about the cost for AI art.
Ai is proving to be unsustainable from a cost perspective (nor an environmental one, but companies don't really give a shit about that.) It costs sooo much to generate text via chat gpt let alone images, the cost of running an ai image generator is already outrunning the amount they earn via people paying for it and the amount they save when they replace artists. Sure, other companies are saving money not hiring artists, but the bubble already seems to be bursting. The general public is already starting to associate Ai images with being purposefully deceitful. Maybe this is just copium, I don't think Ai will go away and I think the role of digital artists will change, but I don't think being able to make a living off of hand-drawn art will completely dissolve or become just a niche hobby. It will just evolve.
