Public transit can be great (in areas you won't get assaulted or travel late at night) but it won't be able to scale as fast as driverless cars....so sadly it won't win. I think way more people should use Public transit in america...but it's mass transit with large amounts of additional infrastructure required. Roads are more expensive....but because they are already here, driverless car will dominate.
