You're totally right and I agree with everything you say... but AI art is going to improve to the point where you won't be able to tell if a person created it or not. I'm not saying this is a good thing, just the way things are going.
I'm an artist and basically ignore AI art, it makes no difference to my creations. However, I don't earn money from my work, so the commercial aspect is concerning for any professional artists.
In general, AI development (not just in art) is going to change our society completely. The wild thing is that we have no idea how yet. So one possibility is that in the near future, artists will be able to create art free from any commercial constraints, which would be amazing. In other words, our society might be free for everyone to pursue whatever they want, regardless of whatever AI art can produce.
Or something else will happen 🤷♂
