Observations:
1. Its interesting that in either case, Ai or altered genome, these "intelligent" tech guys want to transcend the their own mortality...They are all afraid to die, to be unknown, to be insignificant in human history, and so they seek to be god(s) through "control" in this world.
2. If we are a simulation then why does any of "it" matter...their "science" requires the same level of belief that a worship of a god does. They touch on this but this heart of this is not really considered until the very end of the interview.
3. The difference between "us" and "them", in a simulated reality, is that they think "it" can be "understood", and how it works "controlled" but in any simulation, they would have as much understanding, control, and autonomy as any NPC in a video game.
