Ah same stuff different day, a few years ago big art channels were always saying "great artists steal, here's the best way", "how to photobash Google Images", as long as you change it up enough, you're good. Everybody said as long as your art distinguishes itself as an original creation and doesn't violate copyright, it's fair game. It was encouraged and all these videos had nothing but likes and millions of views. I think there's still a widespread misunderstanding of how LLMs work, but that's a separate discussion. Typically if I use AI as a reference, I will use it as inspiration for an original drawing, I am mostly looking at the feelings it evokes, and possibly the composition, colors, etc. that interest me. There's simply too many issues with most AI art to simply go with it, you end up spending the same amount of time re-painting sections. We also have to contend with the fact that the quality of Google Images has massively degraded since 2022, so finding legitimate reference is getting more difficult
