Amazon did lay off tens of thousands because of AI... just not because AI is doing their jobs... quite the opposite really.
They laid all those ppl off because they need to spend billions buying the equipment to bring their AWS up to speed in regards to AI compute without dramatically affecting cap ex.
Ppl keep talking about how "it looks like they were wrong about AI taking jobs" when the reality is, the infrastructure to run the kind of AI needed to take those jobs doesn't even exist yet
