My consciousness starts in my gut. My brain then tries to make sense of that experience. The brain without the gut doesn't deserve empathy. We "civilized" people factory farm animals which do share this pain. Therefore this conversation feels like Elon focusing on Mars colonization instead of Earth preservation. And if you're not a vegetarian, why should AI spare you from being factory farmed? Your parents and friends did it so you thought it's ok? Now you're both the parent and the cow.
