We've all been influenced by science fiction to believe that AI is possible, even inevitable, but the current thing that we call AI is not intelligent in any way. It is a glorified auto-complete, and no one has any idea how to make it anything more. What's even worse than AI being science fiction, is that all the wonders of space travel, medical miracles and limitless energy are probably just made up nonsense as well, just like warp drive and phasers.
