I think that one of the biggest things that protects us from all the evil ai misinformation is the fact that it is simply not useful. It takes so much energy and work to create an ai model and the infrastructure for it even if we made it more efficient. Why would china use ai’s to spread misinformation when they already control the media? The same fear spread with deepfakes, but then surprise surprise no major scandals happened based on deepfakes mostly just memes
