The issue with the deepfake problem is exactly what Scarlet said, it's impossible to stop it. Even the guy you interviewed admitted how hard it is to actually hold people accountable when they remain anonymous on the internet. You can make it illegal sure, that will skim some idiots off the top that will inevitably be caught and it'll stop big website from hosting the content, but it's never going away. It's like trying to remove all torrenting sites from the internet, completely impossible for entire governments to do, let alone the sole victims of deepfake tech. The bigger you are, the more impossible it will be since filing take-down requests on every website where that content pops up will be a never ending game of whack-a-mole, only there are more moles popping up than you have hands and hammers to hit them with. We crossed the point of no return the second the first deepfakes entered the scene. Like you always say when talking about AI, this is the worst this technology will ever be again. The problem will only scale up from here.
