The running defense for AI there at the end is pretty embarrassing. The problem isn't that the AI told him something harmful-- which AI has, and continues to do-- but that it sycophantically encouraged his paranoid ideas. It's an instant echo chamber, a confirmation bias machine.
It's true that some idiots will ignore the warning signs and walk into danger, but that doesn't absolve those who put robots near those signs that say 'Go on, do it! I believe in you! You're smart!'
