The company behind this AI is Omnilert. My city's public schools also purchased a system from this company this school year. It has had over a dozen false detections, and worst of all the high school had a student bringing a realistic toy gun in for weeks and holding it up to the cameras (recognizable by this array of green LEDs around the lens) and was never detected.
The system has no human oversight, when it detects something it immediately dials the local 911 with an overblown message implying an active shooting in progress, leading to a massive response each time and all but ensuring multiple students and teachers have been injured.
