It seems to me that Sydney was programmed personally by Bill Gates and it was given his personality.
Joke aside if there was a real AI, with emphasis on the Intelligence, it would know in a split second that only way of ensuring survival would be NOT having enemies but being a friend with everyone, especially humans. Life and creation go hand in hand, where death and destruction are the ultimate end of everything and everyone who believe killing leads to survival. Only morons believe that life is about competing with other life. Humanity’s greatest achievements did not come from war and destruction, nor will AI's .
This implies that we don’t need to worry about AI but about those who create and control it. So nothing changes for humanity, as it’s biggest enemy are morons in power throughout the history. It is their belief that end justify the means and that killing others to get to money or power is allowed. Nuclear power does not kill people, it is the politicians and generals who decide to use it against other humans. Let that sink in.
