The talk at the around 19:00 mark about feeling pain and empathy is incredibly misguided. We don't feel and understand other people's pain because our brains are similar, we feel it because we have specific neurons and wiring in our brain designed to replicate how other people are feeling, called mirror neurons. Without those neurons, we wouldn't be very good at empathy. You could certainly do something similar with neural networks, the issue is no one is trying.
