Considering how much Social Media is rewiring our Dopamine reward center, why is anyone surprised this would happen. It's just like drinking and drugs. I think if we treat social media and ai similar to psychoactive drugs just recognize it's not only drugs that can cause psychoactive effects and many are designed with the same frequencies as gambling addiction. We are just biological machines and we are allowing ourselves to be hacked similar to the propaganda of WW2.
It's not hard to believe that private and state actors have taken advantage of that technology and these could be those effects.
