A thought concerning "super intelligence". To me this is just a "label" to which we assign to an undefined concept. It is mentioned that the increased ability of AI machines to preform simulations in seconds or even shorter times, may sound impressive. We can imagine it doing everything; but again we are talking in terms of undefined specifics. for me running vast amounts of "simulations" in short times, is just a very quick adding machine (a more sophisticated machine). The term "super intelligence" requires a more definite definition.
Can it realize a situation and form a question the defines a situation in all possible cases?
Can it answer every possible question, in every field, at all possible levels of knowledge?
From an abstract view of knowledge, we have "what we know", we call it knowledge, Then there is the unknown. This comes in three states. What we know we don't know; this we call the "known unknown"; then there is the state of things we don't know we don't know. We call this the "unknown unknown". Lastly there is the state of "unknowable unknowns". This final state is very difficult to identify; To be able to separate the unknown unknown from the unknownable unknown. When all of the unknown unknown knowledge is resolved we we will be left with the unknown and the unknowable. To be able to distinguish between these two will be a sign of super intelligence.
If you want to define "super intelligence" we can place a constraint on its ability. It must resolve all of the known unknowns; all of the current unknowns must be resolved into knowledge (known).
And as has happened in the past where we as humans were able to acquire knowledge, but was forgotten because the people who knew it all died. So supper intelligence must retain all of the current knowledge, all of the knowledge acquired by other intelligent beings as well as all of the knowledge it has acquired.
In addition to current unknown knowledge, it must peruse acquiring knowledge of what is currently unknown unknown. It must also be able to determine the difference between the unknown unknown and the unknowable unknown.
This acquired knowledge includes all relationships between all fields of knowledge and. (not just math, chemistry, all forms of physics, all properties of non-living elements, all fields of all forms of living creatures, all fields of abstract thought (philosophy, ethics, morality, religion, etc.), all principles of materials, physical construction, the vast fields related to human existence, fashion, all forms of beauty and art (literature, poetry, video, audio, etc.) , culture, society, governance, financial, etc. Then maybe we will be "approaching" super intelligence, as well as all new areas of knowledge.
This then is super intelligence. Up until then any claim to "super intelligence" is just someone's dream. How close are we to this definition? I would guess nowhere near it.
