There’s really no stopping it. I felt the same way about the mass spread of the internet two decades ago - the inevitable death of the high street due to online shopping. But as mentioned here - if somehow one country “switched off” the internet, other countries wouldn’t necessarily follow suit. So really the root of the problem is we are too divided to work together towards a common goal.
