For me, it's more like... I want to write a visual novel. To get to the level I'd need to do something like that, I'd have to put in years worth of work to get the the most basic level, when what I really want to do is write. I don't really enjoy drawing all that much. Writing is my thing. And while I don't enjoy drawing, I do have a pretty clear image of what I'd want the CGs to look like; poses, angles, blocking, etc. But it's not like I can afford to pay an artist to draw my CGs out of pocket. I won't ever result to AI, but because of that the visual novel is never going to happen. While I won't stoop to using it, I can understand why other people would. For another example, It's hard for me to justify dropping $120-$300 to commission a light novel cover drawing, for a passion project that maybe 15 people might read only the first chapter of.
