I do not think it works this way. I do not think AI does really need wipe humanity out as we are dependent of it. It might be more beneficial to co-exist with us. Killing all humans will most likely wipe timeline out and reality collapses. However humans who have control over AI, might try exterminate other parts of humanity whom they do not like. As matter of fact, having advanced AI in control might actually be good for humanity in long term.
