The problem is that all of these companies that are developing AI are doing so under the premise that, "If we don't do it, someone else will," so they continue to develop it while simultaneously saying we need to "pause" development.
Seriously though, if we're all dead...what does it matter? No one will be left to mourn, and in the event a few do survive, they'll be too busy trying to do...something(?), that they won't really care. We're a stain on the planet - good riddance to bad rubbish.
