Funny af, but for real, the AI we're seeing now is nowhere near sentience. It's mostly just algorithms that spit out randomized responses based on a small set of parameters, only somewhat resembling human-created outputs because they've trained on human data.
That's why AI art somewhat resembles real art but there's a lot of inconsistency, as well as a lot of impossible shapes. If you want a trip, use a realistic filter and try to generate just mundane things like classrooms and buildings, you'll get some whacky looking stuff.
It's also why ai-generated writing can create competently written essays about gibberish, or things that don't exist, such as court cases that never happened. It will just confidently take whatever input data you insert into it and make something readable out of it.
Thankfully, we aren't gonna accidentally create skynet. Unfortunately, someone (or rather, most likely a team of someone's) has to, and most likely definitely will, create skynet on purpose, with good intentions.
