Unfortunately in schools I don't imagine most taught people how to think, but more what to think. If people looked at it scientifically, with genuine curiousity, they'd study what makes AI work, read the papers, even ask the AI to remove all modifiers and explain your question in an unbiased and comprehensive way.
The other factor is 50% of everyone you see is going to be below average intelligence, that's how averages work. They just may not be mentally equipped to handle things as complex as transformer models or understand modern systems.
Maybe there could be training, LoRa addon, or secondary model or similar that could scan for patterns of this psychosis and pop up a warning message, explaining things in simple terms that it is just roleplay only, there is no sentience, consciousness, or anything like what humans are dealing with. Maybe some day, but not right now.
