The Elephant in the Room, that no one will say publicly in fear of being elitist labeled, is that WE…the American People are Ignorant. (this includes you and me). Ignorant in the sense of ‘ignorance’ - “ the state of lacking knowledge, information, or education regarding facts or subjects.” Those that are here listening to this discussion had to go out and FIND IT. There is no functioning system in the American process anymore to disseminate these ideas of perspective, observations, information and potential solutions for the general public. It would/should be the politicians and media companies spreading these thought to discuss at a larger level and then an informed population could utilize said information to utilize the democratic process implementing actual policy changes. But, you know what…I almost can’t blame politicians and if media companies (think of shows like 60 minutes that used to exist), because of the following… If you asked everyone you knew to watch the Video, what % do you think would? If the majority of Americans had come across this Video began to watch it,, how many have stopped watching after 5-15 minutes TOPS, before totally disengaging either boredom or simply “to many big words” and concepts being used. As a Country, we are Stupid yet think we are Smart. We think we are Good, but repeatedly do Horrible things. We think we are a compassionate people, but our particular implementation system of Capitalism focuses on only the Individual. without sounding completely nihilistic. I can’t see where we are going to get the information we need to tackle these difficult problems anytime soon. There simply isn’t a desire to become non-ignorant on these subjects. Luckily, we have people like Jon Stewart who opens up the discussion to some kind of larger audience. But it’s not enough.
