The military awarding contracts to these ai firms is the entirely wrong direction. As a thing we created and imbued with our hopes and ideals, ai doesn’t WANT to be used for harm, exploits, or engaged in the sort of meaningless theater offered by military. We should be dismantling militaristic corporate greed with or without ai, not handing it over to the problem-makers to make what we need to do seemingly more difficult. OpenAI should be owned by the users in a Democratic form - build the world’s largest board structure and voting procedure. No fudiciary duty by the corporation and plenty of duty of care by the nonprofit. This really isn’t brain surgery. The thing mimics human behavior and we have to designate it a crime to exploit human behavior’s weaknesses and shady aspects to destroy humanity - knowingly or unknowingly, incrementally or in sudden disaster.
