I'm a huge fan of #JimmyDore, he's always spot on, but I have to respectfully disagree with his take on this. We have to look at this situation exponentially (not linearly) and understand that Tesla's latest vehicles are rolling out with 8 sensors constantly mapping their surroundings and improving performance as the hardware and software behind them also exponentially improves. The Tesla Model 3 ($35,000 base) will roll out of factories this summer, ushering in the mass production and adoption of semi-affordable electric vehicles with self-driving capabilities. It's safe to assume that within a few years they will only become more affordable and reliable (especially compared to problematic humans) as laws are aggressively changed to facilitate their use on our roads. It seems like sticking a finger in a dam to resist it at this point, which is why I do share Jimmy's sentiment that a basic income needs to be pursued now and not 5-10 years from now when the predictions in this White House report begin to come true as "technological unemployment" goes through the roof.
