It's hard, but this is why I'm doing everything I can to shift my views of politics away from the indoctrinated Fandom mentality of the US the past however many decades. It's going to be the death of freedom clinging to that. I still want to scream at someone for all the various -isms from time to time, but the more immediate threat is that nation states are shockingly close to being able to know where every single person on earth is (more or less) at any time, what they're doing, who they're with, etc. And possess the ability to arrest/detain/kill people completely remotely.  It may never get there, but that kind of possibility is currently being worked towards. We ought to be terrified.
