I have been working in my industry since I was 15, did paperwork for my mom’s nonprofit work growing up, went to college and studied within my field, worked within my field and interned within in all while in college, am bilingual, have a pretty good network, and have never struggled with unemployment. Not until 2025/2026.
Even with my 10 years plus of experience, I have experience managing teams and nonprofits and campaigns, I am struggling to find a job. I work in home care now. Even one job that I applied for that complained about AI applicants and requested video cover letters… they received 500+ video applicants for an entry level position that included literally lawyers and other people in their fields for 20+ years… for a remote entry level position in progressive politics…
I specced into a niche industry and made it super far in a lot of ways, did everything right. Yet I’m out here competing with literally everyone, not just my age demographic, for housing, jobs, and everything else.
