The FBI didn't search anything. They just set their facial recognition software loose on untold billions of photos. "Publicly available", in some cases, sure. Still deserves asking if that's how you want your law enforcement agencies to work. Consider that pictures of you and I were likely scanned in the attempt to find this guy. Consider how facial recognition software is extremely unreliable for races that are not white. Etc.
