Semi autonomous self driving is probably the way to go.
I'd like to see a "hot" inside median strip (left side of fast lane) on the interstates (or long expressways) that electric cars could link to with a magnetic roller. Cars could stay charged for hundreds (thousands) of miles and be aligned together to provide "drafting" for economy and avoid reckless passing.
Not in favor of cars that can't be driven. Weather events, system breakdowns etc mean that it's probably best if the driver can take over if things go awry.
