@rodjacksonx Language manipulation is different from "insight from experiences". It can pretend to reason, as far as language itself allows, but it can't understand what it reasons with. Experiencing things in whatever ways we experience them isn't unique to us, but the technology to mimic the same level of understanding we have isn't there yet. In this case, not everyone can play chess, but (almost) anyone has the right "features" to learn chess or anything similar. Language models can't make the leap towards things like playing chess, not with the current approaches we're using at least.
Better algorithms will solve this problem. Different fields of AI catching up and doing different stuff with the fraction of the cost. that's what we should be worrying about... or maybe not. Depends on which side you're on.
