GPT-4 is capable enough that it should be able to be given a useful android body to play with after some upgrades. If not, a close successor will be. It's already capable of image processing and functioning in a 3D environment, and it's just a very high-tech language model with extra features and emergent behavior, not a neural net that's actually designed from the ground up to run complex machinery. Despite that, it is more than capable of tool use.
