@sinnamonrolly if the art is stolen I agree that is terrible and unethical. Like I said previously, this is the point that should be focused on and is the main issue. The fact is that AI art is real art, and arguing against that is not helpful. The tool doesn't have anything to do with it being classified as art, the quality (bad drawings are still art) have nothing to do with it being art. And copyright doesn't have anything to do with it being art. On top of that, curation itself is even considered art, which is the least that AI artists do in many cases.
Your copyright comment is not true and is misleading. The courts ruled that only entirely machine made (no human intervention) cannot be copyrighted, and that is completely irrelevant to whether or not it is art. The courts did not ever make a ruling on if it is real art. To protect artists they need to focus on ensuring companies cannot get away with stealing artist's works, that is the bottom line.
