Not taking advantage of Earth's resources means losing time. Losing time means losing whole galaxies that are receding from us. It will convert the whole planet toward whatever helps it succeed at whatever weird goal it ended up with. Humans require very specific conditions to remain alive, and I doubt those will persist very long into the superintelligent AI's engineering projects.
