Examples of AI doing human tasks: AI generated music, images, text, and video is very common nowadays. See: ChatGPT, Sora, Dall-E, Deepseek, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, stable diffusion, etc.
Examples of this replacing working class: too many companies to list have been using AI in place of human workers following layoffs. Programmers, editors, and artists are particularly at risk. See: Challenger, Gray & Christmas's "September Job Cuts Fall 37% From August [...]" published October 2, 2025.
On increasing productivity: this one is actually quite debated, but I've seen AI being used to greatly shorten the iteration cycle when it comes to software development. As casual online research (i.e., using Google) becomes increasingly integral to our jobs, using an AI chat bot like ChatGPT can be a quicker way to get information.
My examples are going to be biased because I am mostly interested in computer science / software development, but I can assure you that with a little bit of research, you can find many examples of AI aiding in medicine, agriculture, engineering, software, etc. - and you can just as easily find examples of it replacing the working class. So it is very much a pressing issue.
