When the 2 sensors disagree, just as with that A330, the autonomous aid (Autopilot) must disconnect, which it did with AF447.
Those pilots were lacking situational awareness and basic hands-on skill that they failed to rectify.
The driver of a Tesla would surely be able to avoid rearending a motorcycle if the AP was disconnected on them, but obviously Tesla don't want their customers to have many interruptions to their driver aid.
