My guess is that those articles are either AI generated and don't distinguish between experimental facts, theoretical speculation and fiction, are part of the grift and hype cycle by overstating those systems capabilities, or are the experimenters seeing intent where there is none (the same way marbles look like racing when they're just rolling down a hill).
