I can’t remember her name, but there was a reporter who went behind the scenes at OpenAI and wrote a book about it. Her take away is that she believed these people had created a pseudo religion around these LLMs and they genuinely convinced themselves this stuff was sentient, regardless of the mounting evidence that it wasn’t.
