The problem with this interview is that there are not a lot of political solutions. He said politics was going to rule the world, however had little input to slow or stop this mess. Next on the show, they need to start bringing in politicians and researchers with solutions. I would be curious to see who is bought out by AI and who actually will take an aggressive stance. So far Bernie Sanders is the only politician with any solutions. Here are a few:
A "Robot Tax": Imposing a tax on large corporations that replace human workers with AI or automation. The revenue generated would be used to help displaced workers and fund social programs.
32-Hour Workweek: Mandating a reduction in the standard workweek to 32 hours with no loss in pay to share the benefits of increased productivity and create more jobs.
Worker Representation on Boards: Requiring corporations to allow employees to elect a significant percentage (at least 45%) of the members of their boards of directors, giving workers a say in how AI is implemented in their companies.
Increased Profit Sharing and Employee Ownership: Substantially expanding profit-sharing programs and employee ownership (proposing at least 20% of company stock for workers) to ensure a more equitable distribution of wealth generated by AI.
It would be nice to see what other politicians are proposing like Gavin Newsom since he is so popular right now. He is however close to Silicon Valley. I am wondering if he is bought out by these corporations.
