No its not. The tech just has to improve.
I would much prefer to share the road with driverless cars than drunk drivers. You act like there aren't hundreds of car accidents daily because people don't know how to drive, or are high on substances.
Aeroplanes are largely flown on autopilot, does that make you nervous to fly? Additionally, the leading cause of flight accidents is pilot error as opposed to tech malfunctions.
Once tech improves these cars would be safer than those primarily manned by humans.
